As part of our Fraud Mitigation service, we have added another layer of security to the SIP Trunk Plus portal in Dual Factor Authentication ('2FA').  This solution will outline how to set up dual factor authentication (2FA), necessary to log into the SIP Trunk Plus portal both for reseller and the end client accounts.

1. Setting up dual factor authentication (2FA) for your 'reseller' account:

To activate '2FA' for your reseller account, you will firstly need to provide a mobile number for each of your SIP Trunk Plus portal 'Users' as those logging into SIP Trunk Plus portal will be required to enter an authentication code, which is sent via SMS to the mobile number associated with the 'User' in question, before access is given to the SIP Trunk Plus portal. The following steps outline how to do this:

a) Login to the SIP Trunk Plus portal > Select your reseller account > Select 'Users' > Right-click on the 'user' you wish to add the mobile number to and select 'Edit User'. This will take you to the 'Edit User' window as below:

b) Enter the desired mobile number, in international format which will receive your dual factor authentication (2FA) code, into the 'Phone Number' field.
Please Note: As instructed in the 'Phone Number' field, the mobile number needs to be entered in 'International' format (e.g. a UK mobile number of 07890123456 should be entered as 447980123456). Once entered, press 'Save'.

c)
Lastly, send in a ticket to support@500.uk.com with the header '2FA Set Up' confirming in the ticket that you wish to enable '2FA' for your reseller account and the staff at support will do so accordingly.

2. Setting up dual factor authentication (2FA) for your 'end client' account(s):

If you provide your end users with portal access, they to much have mobile numbers associated with their accounts.  Similar to step '1' above, to activate '2FA' for your end client account(s), you will firstly need to provide a mobile number for each of the end client SIP Trunk Plus portal 'Users' as those logging into SIP Trunk Plus portal will be required to enter an authentication code, which is sent via SMS to the mobile number associated with the 'User' in question, before access is given to the SIP Trunk Plus portal.  In addition, you, as the reseller, can enable '2FA' for your end client(s).  The following steps outline how to do this:

a) As in point '1 a)' above, login to the SIP Trunk Plus portal > Select the end client account in question > Select 'Users' > Right-click on the 'user' you wish to add the mobile number to and select 'Edit User'. This will take you to the 'Edit User' window as below:

b) As in point '1 b)' above, enter the desired mobile number for the end client user, which will receive the dual factor authentication (2FA) code, into the 'Phone Number' field. Please Note: As instructed in the 'Phone Number' field, the mobile number needs to be entered in 'International' format (e.g. a UK mobile number of 07890123456 should be entered as 447980123456).  Once entered, press 'Save'.

Once entered, press 'Save'.

c) Remaining on the end client account in question, now select the 'Options' tab > then select 'Permissions'. You should then see that '2FA' is listed within your 'Available permissions':

d) In the 'Available permissions' window, select 'Use 2FA'  and then press '>' to move 'Use 2FA' into the 'Allocated permissions' window and therefore enabling '2FA'  for the end client in question.
Once complete, press ' Save'  to confirm this change.

Important Note: if 2FA is enabled for an account, but the users within those accounts do not have their mobile numbers allocated, access to the portal will be prevented and a dialog box is displayed to this effect, advising clients to contact their reseller who in turn should contact us with the user account ID, name and mobile number.
